Compress an image with honest size reporting
Reduce JPG, PNG or WebP bytes without resizing and compare the real input, output and percentage change.
Compress Image reduces image bytes while preserving the source pixel dimensions. JPG and WebP use the selected lossy quality, while PNG uses deterministic lossless optimization. The tool reports the actual outcome rather than claiming a saving when the result is equal or larger.
Before you start
A signed-in account is required. Processing is enabled for eligible plans under approved current limits. Keep the original whenever visual fidelity or source metadata matters.

Best for
- Reducing a photographic image for email.
- Optimizing a website asset that already has correct dimensions.
- Comparing JPEG or WebP quality against real byte savings.
- Losslessly optimizing a PNG without resizing it.
How to use it
- Sign in and add one or more supported images.
- Review each source’s dimensions and byte size.
- Choose lossy quality where the format supports it.
- Start processing once and follow queue status if capacity is occupied.
- Compare input bytes, output bytes and the displayed percentage change.
- Download the result or ZIP only when the outcome is useful.
- Inspect detail, gradients, text and transparency.
Important options
Lower JPEG/WebP quality can reduce bytes but may introduce visible artifacts. PNG optimization is lossless and does not use the lossy quality control. Pixel width and height remain unchanged in this focused tool.
Processing and queue
What you receive
You receive a separate compressed image or multi-file ZIP, with honest byte reporting. A larger result is not labelled as a saving. The original remains unchanged.
What to check before relying on the result
Compare the displayed size with the source and inspect fine text, faces, gradients, transparency and brand colors. Confirm the dimensions are unchanged.
Limitations
- An already optimized source may not shrink.
- Lossy settings can alter visible detail.
- PNG has less room to shrink when already optimized.
- Compression does not repair a low-quality source.
- Output metadata does not preserve unnecessary camera information.
Privacy and file handling
The shared Image Tools engine is self-hosted. Output removes unnecessary EXIF, GPS and device metadata; ICC profiles are retained only when safe.
| Plan | Result | Metadata |
|---|---|---|
| Guest Free | Not retained | Not retained |
| Registered Free | Not retained | 1 day |
| Pro | Not retained | 30 days |
| Pro Plus | Not retained | 90 days |
Troubleshooting
If output is larger, retain the source or try a suitable supported setting rather than repeatedly recompressing. If transparency changes unexpectedly, confirm the output format. A rejected file may have a mismatched extension or unsupported decoded format.
Examples
- Reduce a large JPEG photograph for email.
- Optimize a transparent PNG asset without resizing it.
- Compare a WebP result and keep the original when the saving is negligible.
